Trek Fuel EX 9.8 Project One

A couple of months ago, we posted a blog about Trek’s incredible Fuel EX series of bikes. We covered the history and development of the platform from the early days of 2005 right up to the present day. You can read that blog HERE. However, since then, we have supplied a very special bike to a very special athlete. A Trek Fuel EX 9.8 Project One for Natalie Milne. We thought you’d like to hear about it!

Natalie Milne

The athlete in question is Natalie Milne. Natalie is a Team Scotland and Team GB triathlete who represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in 2014. She has won numerous titles and is currently very focused on qualifying for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Gold Coast, Australia, in 2018. Criterium Cycles is proud to sponsor Natalie and will be supporting her throughout her forthcoming racing season. You will be able to follow Natalie’s progress in the regular blogs we will be posting throughout 2017.

Natalie’s Trek Fuel Ex 9.8 Project One

Natalie recently took delivery of this fabulous Fuel EX 9.8. Some of the highlights of this bike include:

  1. Trek OCLV carbon fibre mainframe and seat stay with alloy chain stay.
  2. Optional “Gripped” paint scheme, Deep Dark Blue, Carerra Blue and Waterloo Blue.
  3. Shimano XT 1 x 11spd drivetrain with new 11-50T cassette for extra wide gear range.
  4. Rockshox Pike forks in short travel version (130mm travel).
  5. New Bontrager Line wheels with wide 33mm light alloy rim.
  6. New Bontrager Drop Line dropper seat post and Bontrager Ajna Elite WSD saddle.

This is one of the best new trail bikes on the market today. The Trek Fuel EX can be set-up with 29er or 27.5+ wheels and is equally at home on tight, technical terrain, trail centres and all day epics. It is a genuine jack of all trades bike. With all of the current niches in modern mountain biking, the Fuel EX can take on just about any terrain you care to take it on, with a riding position that allows accomplished riders to push their boundaries and novices to ride with confidence.
