Trek nail it for 2017

Trek Bikes have long been at the forefront of developing superb bikes for discerning riders. The list of technological ‘firsts’ from the team in Waterloo, WI, reads like the definitive guide of some of the biggest improvements in bike technology of the last 20 years. On road, we have the aero capability of Madone, the ultra lightness (yet stiffness) of the Emonda and the high performance endurance capabilities of the Domane. In Mountain biking, Trek have led the way with the development carbon technology, 29er wheels and Plus Bikes. There are suspension systems that deliver ride and handling performance that many thought impossible not that long ago. Models such as the Remedy, the Slash and the Fuel EX to name but three are genuinely class leading. In fact, the Fuel EX in particular can legitimately claim to be the best all round trail bike in the world. In new Plus Bike form with 2.8″ wide tyres and Boost 110/148, the Fuel EX goes even further up at the top of the tree.

2017 Highlights

When Trek announce a new season line up, customers and retailers wait with bated breath. This year, the wait was especially worth it because Trek have absolutely nailed it. We think the 2017 line up could be one of their best yet. Criterium Cycles have previewed some of the highlights of the 2017 season and we think you’ll absolutely love them. What’s more, we took the decision to buy in plenty of these new bikes for the season so that our customers could get their hands on these bikes as early as possible. Below, we have set out a table of what we have in stock now for immediate collection.

If you have any questions at all or what like to view these bikes (they look even better in the metal) then either call us on 0131 663 6220 or Contact Us by email. We will be delighted to answer any questions you may have and get you riding!

2017 Road Bike Highlights

Trek Domane

We think the Trek Domane range of endurance road bikes must be pretty much the most comprehensive and impressive model range for sport endurance road bikes that any manufacturer now has. Here are some of the highlights of the 2017 range:

Easy to understand

The Trek Domane range now uses a similar model naming convention to the Trek Emonda range. So the letters and numbers denote:

S 400 series OCLV Carbon Perfect first carbon road bike
fitted with Trek’s brilliant rear IsoSpeed Decoupler
SL 500 series OCLV Carbon All benefits of Domane S PLUS

  • front IsoSpeed
  • full carbon fork
  • rear tuned seat mast
SLR 600 series OCLV Carbon The ultimate Trek Endurance Race bike
All the benefits of the Domane SL PLUS

  • adjustable rear IsoSpeed.
  • As stiff as an Emonda but 15% more compliant than Domane SL

4 Shimano Tiagra 10 speed
5 Shimano 105 11 speed
6 Shimano Ultegra 11 speed
7 Shimano Ultegra DI2 11 speed
9 SRAM Red Etap 11 speed

IsoSpeed Decoupler

The rear IsoSpeed Decoupler has always been one of the Domane’s party pieces. The rear decoupler allows the seat tube to rotate independently from the ‘top tube to seat stay’ junction. This increases vertical compliance significantly without comprising pedalling efficiency. The result is you can ride harder, for longer and still feel fresh at the end.

Adjustable Rear IsoSpeed on the SLR does exactly what it says on the tin allowing the ride to fine tune level of compliance to suit the rider style and terrain. In its stiffest setting, it is stiffer than the current Trek Domane. But in its most compliant setting, it is 14% more compliant than the current Trek Domane.

Front IsoSpeed brings similar benefits in terms of compliance to the front end of the bike reducing the level of vibration and therefore fatigue experience by the hands and arms. The result is a much more balanced and smooth ride.

Alloy Options

For 2017, we welcome the Trek Domane ALR 4. At £1,100, this bike comes with Trek’s 200 Series Aluminium, Shimano Tiagra 10 speed drivetrain, carbon fork and Trek’s proprietary Rear IsoSpeed Decoupler. This is one heck of a lot of bike for the money – really great value.

Go Anywhere, Do Anything

If you’re still unsure whether the Trek Domane can genuinely go anywhere and do anything, check out this video from Trek Bikes.

Trek Silque (Womens Specific)

Trek’s Silque range is the Women’s Specific Design version of the Domane. It has all the benefits of the Domane range – no short cuts have been taken here. However, the Women’s custom size specific ride tuned OCLV Carbon frame with its all-new WSD geometry provides the perfect balance of smoothness and power

Check out this video from Trek Bikes on why the Women’s Specific Design and geometry makes a real difference.

2017 Mountain Bike Highlights

Trek Fuel EX Plus

The Trek Fuel EX Plus is the latest incarnation of Trek’s superb Fuel EX mountain bike now fitted with 27.5 Plus wheels. However, this is no after market upgrade. The Trek Fuel EX Plus is a genuine redesign to give it some really innovate new features. All frame sizes have a got longer and the rear travel has been increased to 130mm. Alongside the 140mm Fox front fork, shorter stem and a more aggressive geometry, this Fuel is a more aggressive bike than the standard 650b / 29er.

The real ‘wow’ factor though for us with this bike is those wheels. The Trek Fuel EX Plus has 2.8in tyres matched with 40mm rims. The control under braking is superb so when you are out on those steep sections of terrain with technical downhills, you’re going to really love the extra control.

This bike is for someone looking for a great all round trail bike. It’s confidence inspiring and has tremendous amounts of grip. Trek have pulled off that really tricky balance of making this bike lighter yet stiffer so it’s great on climbs, confident  on descents.

Remedy

Trek’s Remedy is still one of the very best trail weapons but this latest incarnation has evolved into one of the very best Enduro bike packages. It’s lower, longer and slacker!

The line up for 2017 includes both WSD variants and models primarily for guys but thought we would showcase our particular favourite, the Remedy 9 RSL 650b. RSL stands for Race Shop Limited. Painted in Viper Red and Trek black, this bike is as striking as it is brilliant. Just check out this specification:

  1. New 150mm frame optimised for Enduro and technical trails
  2. Boost 148/110 – stronger wheels, more tyre clearance and shorter stays
  3. Stunning suspension tech with ABP, Full Floater and RE:aktiv
  4. Race Shop Limited with pro levels of build

And the best bit is that this bike is just £3,000.00. An incredible bike at an incredible price. We have ordered 5 of these beauties so hurry – they are generating a lot of interest.
